» CHARACTER INFORMATION

Character NAME: Cissa Nix
Character PULL-POINT: Shortly after she gains full membership to the Order of Whispers.
Character AGE: 19
Character ABILITIES:

Cissa doesn't posess much, if anything, in the way of magical abilities. While Asura can and do combine magic with their technology, she tends to gravitate more to the mechanical side of things. She possesses a brilliant mind for machinery, and is able to contstruct useful things from a mishmash of scrap and spare parts.

While not her specialty, she can also brew elixers of moderate strength that will either give temporary boosts (such as strength, speed, or healing rate) or cause temporary negative effects (such as blindness, confusion, or poisoning).

Character HISTORY:

The only progeny of two alumni from different Colleges, Cissa began her life in typical Asuran fashion. Which basically meant school, building all of her own toys, and getting in clever sniping matches with other progeny her age. She paid rapt attention in her classes, even if she couldn't stay in one spot for long without fidgeting. Look, the practical lessons were far more enlightening. And fun.

She was well-enough liked, and developed a core group of friends that she referred to as her krewe. So what if a krewe was technically a group of fully-educated adults working together on specific projects? They tinkered with each others' inventions. That absolutely counted, and clearly she was mature enough to have a krewe of her own.

Cissa in particular developed an avid interest in engineering. Making big machines to do whatever one could think of was fun. Golems, cannons, weather converters . . . all lovely, glorious things. Her particular take on the last of those earned her a patent and a spot in the College of Dynamics; an institution known for experimental research and the sheer number of inventions its students produce, as well as the philosophy that no experiment is a failure so long as you've learned something from it. As always, she studied hard and excelled. Why she didn't graduate with honours, she didn't know. Since when did the College of Dynamics care so much about how often things exploded? Clearly, they kept her out of the honours category for inane reasons.

Still, she went on about her business, inventing and innovating to her heart's content. However, Cissa couldn't help but notice hints here and there of corruption within the Arcane Council, the highest government authority in Rata Sum. With the help of the Order of Whispers -- a centuries-old organization well-versed covert operations and espionage -- she eventually confronted the council.

However, her efforts came to nothing; the council dismissed her, knew that nothing she said against them could get them out of power. Not even worth the effort to silence her, they said. And as much as it rankled, Cissa realized that they were right.

Fed up with the whole mess, Cissa packed her things and headed off to Lion's Arch; staying in Rata Sum just didn't seem like a logical option anymore. While she keeps in touch with her krewe when she can, she finds herself going on more and more expeditions for the Order. She still takes the time to invent new machinery, though. You can't keep a good Asura down.

Character PERSONALITY:

Cissa is very energetic, almost peppy. She's always moving around, or at least working her mind hard at something. So long as she's awake, she's rarely at rest. There's always something to do, always something to learn. Heaven forbid she slack off and just sit down for a while. If she's forced to do that, she just gets antsy. She's somewhat absent-minded at times, jumping from thought to thought and forgetting the previous considerations completely.

Like most Asura, she is highly intelligent and uses an overly complicated vocabulary. She's had praise for her intellectual capacity all her life. She is Asura, and therefore brilliant; she buys into this line of thinking completely. While not unkind, she has quite a superiority complex that leads her to speak with casual condescencion. Unsurprisingly, most people don't find this very endearing, so she tends to be inept at befriending others. Not that she really notices. She's nice, okay? Of course she has friends.

And the thing is: if she considers you a friend, she's very loyal. She'll help you out with your problems, even if it means getting into trouble. Cissa has no issue using violence to rectify an unfavourable situation if she deems it's the best way, but she can be convinced to forego it if another logical solution is presented. Very few things make her legitimately angry, the only surefire ones being harming her friends . . . and disrespecting her work.

Cissa very much enjoys trying new things, loves to innovate. She has a particular fondness for weapon design and just things blowing up in general. Her inventions don't always work out as planned, sometimes they explode . . . but hey, that's the price of progress! If you don't try something, you never know for sure if it was a dumb idea or not. She doesn't let a few failures get her down. It's all part of science, you know. Educated guesses along with trial and error. Anyone who gets discouraged by that has no business pursuing the field.

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION

Chosen WEAPON: She will choose to have her trusty modified rifle infused with sentience. It will have the ability to regenerate its own ammo based on her will -- but not anything it's not designed to fire, which limits the ability to bullets, weighted nets, and concussive blasts of air that can be ignited. With training, the range of the weapon will increase, but any accuracy needs are still dependent on her own marskmanship.
Character INVENTORY: Her rifle, two small pistols, a small shield, and a backpack full of tools that she uses to construct her inventions.

First PERSON:
Video
[The view randomly distorts; convex, concave, folded, and what have you. In all of this, there are glimpses of a very curious-looking creature making various "hmm" sounds to itself. Herself? Maybe.] How intriguing. The communications operations remain unhampered by manipulating the surface area. I shall have to deduce how this was accomplished.

[The view finally stabilizes, giving the first clear picture of the user. Pale skin, a mop of reddish hair, long floppy ears, wide yellow eyes. And she's all-but grinning, showing a hint of pointed teeth.] Excelsior, my fellow Transports! It's a pleasure to make the acquaintance of you all. I am called Cissa. I'll forgive you all for not knowing of me; the factor of transdimensional relocation renders the possibility of prior knowledge to be mathematically insignificant.

[Blinks irritably up at the rain.] Honestly, that is getting tiresome. I'll need to recreate my variable atmospheric converter.

[Oh, right. She's lost her thread, here. Time to get back on track. Ahem.] In the meantime, I'd like to conduct a survey on the number of dimensional planes represented here and any coinciding factors among them. All answers shall be taken into proper consideration, no matter how much of a slack-jawed skritt-brain you may be.

[There. That isn't insulting at all, right?]

Third PERSON:

By the Eternal Alchemy, some things were so primitive here. They could pull people from multiple worlds and multiple points in time, but they didn't have service golems? She was all for skipping steps in favour of more far-reaching discoveries if you could, but why skip out on something so useful and so basic as a golem? They could do all the heavy grunt-work that krewe members weren't equipped to handle.

Hm. Come to think of it, she was going to have to put together a krewe here at some point. If she could find someone outside her species that wasn't useless, seeing as she appeared to be the only one of her kind here.

Well, that would be something for later. At the moment, she was busy rooting through a pile of scrap metal, looking for serviceable parts. Nope. Nope. Isn't anything here the proper molecular composition? How do these bookah even do anything?

"Hey! You!" She waved over a very average-looking human. Perhaps there would be a slim chance that he would know what she was looking for. His baffled look at her appearance was lost on her; she instead launched into a detailed description of the chemical properties of the metal she was looking for.

And she continued not to notice the baffled look until she was finished. Oh, honestly. If she didn't know better, she wouldn't think some other species had brains at all. It wasn't like her description had been complicated.

She sighed and waved him away. "Go on, go on. I might as well have asked a skritt."

If the human didn't leave at her words, he would do it as she casually tossed useless materials over her shoulder. There just had to be something here she could use.
